#SHOWBIZ: Singer Amsyar Lee reflects on gruelling journey in China's 'Silk Way Star'

KUALA LUMPUR: Singer Amsyar Lee, whose real name is Muhammad Amir Syafiq Mohd Sadri, reflects on his intense experience competing in the international singing competition Silk Way Star in Yiwu, China. The 27-year-old artiste views his selection to represent Malaysia as a significant responsibility. Over six weeks of filming the 10-episode show, Amsyar endured rigorous rehearsals, sleepless nights, and immense pressure.

Despite the hardships, he embraced these challenges to showcase the caliber of Malaysian talent on a global platform. The on-screen spectacle represents only a few minutes of performance, while the behind-the-scenes footage reveals countless hours of preparation, exhaustion, and emotional turmoil. Amsyar admitted that there were moments when he doubted himself due to the overwhelming exhaustion, but he kept pushing forward, reminding himself that not everyone is fortunate enough to have such an opportunity.

As long as he could, he vowed to fight for Malaysia and prove that local talent can compete alongside international performers on the world stage. Malaysia's victory in one of the episodes brought immense pride to Amsyar. He expressed his elation at hearing the news, stating that every sacrifice, including his own exhaustion and tears, felt worthwhile when he considered the overwhelming support from his family, team, and fellow Malaysians.

This marks Amsyar's second major venture in China after his semi-final appearance in Sing! Asia in 2025.
