Seawoods Woman Loses ₹1.22 Crore To UP Couple Claiming Supernatural Powers, Police Book Accused Under Anti-Black Magic Law

A Seawoods woman has lost over ₹1.22 crore to a couple from Uttar Pradesh who claimed to possess supernatural powers, according to a recent police report. The woman, aged 56, alleged that the accused falsely claimed her home was plagued by black magic and occult forces, threatening her family's safety if the situation was not remedied through religious and occult rituals. Over an eight-year period, the couple allegedly extorted money from her via cash, ATM transactions, and cheques, totaling Rs 1,22,58,000.

According to the NRI Coastal Police, the case has been registered under multiple laws including cheating, criminal intimidation, and provisions of the Maharashtra anti-black magic law. The couple, identified as Raheeshmiya and Asma Raheeshmiya, had allegedly met the victim during a visit to Jalna in 2017 when she was stressed due to family-related issues. The self-styled godman they introduced her to allegedly recommended them as experts to perform the necessary rituals.

The victim, believing their claims, continued making payments to the couple despite the large sums already taken. She eventually sold her gold jewelry, agricultural land, and shop to deposit the funds into the accused's bank accounts. The fraud was discovered when the couple continued to demand more money. The police are now investigating the financial transactions and tracking down the accused in Uttar Pradesh.
