Sadagoppan Ramesh says Sanju Samson should be considered CSK’s next captain

Former Indian cricketer Sadagoppan Ramesh believes that Chennai Super Kings should consider Sanju Samson as their next captain for the upcoming season. Gaikwad has had an ordinary season as captain, and CSK have missed the playoff spot in three consecutive seasons. Ramesh argues that Samson is a fantastic team player and should be seriously considered for the captaincy.

Samson has captained 66 matches in the IPL and has a 50% success rate, leading RR to a final and another playoff appearance. While CSK needs several other changes, Ramesh believes that if they change captains, Samson must be strongly considered. Former CSK batter Subramaniam Badrinath also suggested that Gaikwad should not lead CSK and that Sanju Samson should be the captain.

Badrinath stated that Gaikwad's batting is more important than his captaincy, and freeing him from leadership duties would elevate him as an opener.
