Real Madrid’s Raul Asencio cleared in explicit-video case — but faces club action over drink-driving

Real Madrid defender Raul Asencio has been cleared of alleged involvement in sharing a sexually explicit video involving minors. A Spanish court acquitted the 23-year-old and dismissed charges against him in Las Palmas, Gran Canaria. The court also imposed minimum sentences on three former teammates convicted of possessing child pornography after the victims, aged 16 and 18, forgave the accused.

While the three teammates received a one-year suspended sentence, they must attend a sexual "re-education" course, face a two-year restraining order, and are barred from working with minors for three years. Asencio expressed satisfaction with the judicial ruling, stating he respects the media's right to report but emphasizes the consequences for individuals and families.

Real Madrid has also initiated disciplinary proceedings against Asencio for a separate drink-driving incident in Gran Canaria, where he was found more than three times over the legal limit.
