Rafal Steps Up Security for 2026 Patron Saint Festivities

Rafal Town Council is preparing an enhanced security operation for its 2026 celebrations of the Virgen del Rosario and the customary Moors and Christians festivities. A special meeting of the Local Security Board convened council members, Guardia Civil officers, Local Police, and regional officials to coordinate plans for events anticipated to draw the largest crowds.

The agenda includes public safety, traffic controls, entry points, and emergency evacuation routes. Officials also deliberated on strategies to prevent and address gender-based violence. Mayor Noemí Cutillas emphasized the critical need for close coordination among all authorities and emergency services to ensure the safety and enjoyment of residents and visitors during the festivities.

Security councillor Laura Velasco highlighted the focus on crowd control, road closures, and preventive measures for the most crowded events. A designated Violet Point will be active during the celebrations, collaborating with security forces and specialized support services to offer information and assistance in cases of harassment or gender-based violence.

The coordinated effort aims to enhance prevention, coordination, and emergency response throughout the festivities, ensuring a secure and respectful atmosphere for Rafal’s celebrations.
