Prison Ministry launches halfway home project for inmates

The Prison Ministry of Ghana, a Christian non-profit organization, has launched a halfway home project to assist inmates with their reintegration into society after serving their sentences. Mr. Akumfi Ameyaw Buanya, the Executive Director, made this announcement during a meeting of the organization's board of trustees. The half-way home project will focus on equipping inmates with practical skills and agricultural livelihoods to aid their transition back into the community.

With support from benevolent organizations, the initiative could develop existing farmland and expand halfway homes across Ghana, particularly in the Northern regions. In addition to the halfway home project, the Prison Ministry also conducts outreach programs in schools and colleges to educate young people about lifestyles that could lead to criminal behavior.

Mr. Buanya emphasized the need for compassion and support for prisoners, urging the public to contribute to their rehabilitation and reintegration into society. An ex-inmate, Richard Nyarko, praised the organization for its impact on his life and urged the public to lead responsible lifestyles to avoid ending up in prison.
