President Sheikh Mohamed and Turkey's Erdogan stress need for lasting regional peace in phone call

President Sheikh Mohamed and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan discussed the necessity of enhancing security and stability in the Middle East during a phone conversation on Friday, according to state news agency Wam. The leaders emphasized their commitment to bringing enduring peace to the region, a sentiment that resonated amidst a recent surge in hostilities triggered by Iran.

The call came in the wake of recent aggressions from Tehran directed towards Gulf states. Sheikh Mohamed and Mr Erdogan also deliberated on strengthening the existing bilateral ties that have a history of regular engagement. They frequently engage in discussions to bolster cooperation and address pressing regional concerns.

Notably, in May, Sheikh Mohamed and Erdogan explored avenues to deepen their relationship within the context of a Comprehensive Economic Partnership, which officially commenced in March 2023. This dialogue followed a meeting between Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Presidential Court, and Erdogan during a working visit to Turkey.

The discussion encompassed various regional issues, including the implications of Middle East developments on security and stability, with both parties sharing their perspectives on these matters.
