Police probe cops promoting drug business of “Kudu Avishka” operating from Dubai

Police Headquarters has launched an investigation into allegations that three policemen from Kohuwala Police are receiving money and benefits from Kudu Avishka, a Dubai-based drug trafficker, to facilitate drug trafficking in the area. The probe began on September 2 following complaints submitted to high-ranking officials, including the President and the Minister of Public Security.

These complaints included audio recordings alleging threats from the three policemen against those who refused to cooperate with the drug network, as well as conversations between the policemen and Dubai-based underworld figures. The allegations claim that the policemen are collaborating with Kudu Avishka, operating in conjunction with his associate, Bodiyawatta Chamodi, and pressuring individuals to join Avishka's drug network.

Those who refuse to cooperate are threatened with false drug possession charges and prosecution. An audio recording of these threats, reportedly featuring Avishka's brother Amila, has been submitted to authorities and shared on social media.
