PM Modi Could Be Top Of Trump's G20 Meeting List, US Ambassador Sergio Gor Says

US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor revealed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi might take precedence over other leaders on the agenda of US President Donald Trump during the upcoming G20 Summit in Florida in December. The close rapport between the two leaders is the reason behind this expectation. Gor also shared that the Prime Minister's visit could potentially extend beyond the scheduled multilateral summit, although no separate meeting between the two leaders has been officially confirmed yet.

According to Gor, Trump still holds positive memories of his 2020 visit to India. He further hinted that the US President might pay a visit to India next year. Regarding the India-US trade deal, Gor stated that negotiations were being revised after a ruling by the US Supreme Court. However, he remained optimistic that the deal could be finalized within the next few months.

Gor described India as a stable and reliable partner to the US, especially in the defense sector. He also emphasized the growing collaboration in sectors such as artificial intelligence, data centers, and pharmaceuticals. Furthermore, the ambassador mentioned that Washington was eager to strengthen high-level engagements, with Secretary of State Marco Rubio anticipated to visit India again in October.

In addition, Gor expressed the US interest in organizing a Quad leaders' summit, which would include India, the US, Japan, and Australia. This potential summit could be held later in the year.
