Pierre Gasly stripped of Monaco Grand Prix podium on appeal as Isack Hadjar gets third

In a recent ruling, the FIA’s International Court of Appeal has overturned Pierre Gasly’s third place finish at the Monaco Grand Prix, reinstating him to third position. Alpine’s Gasly, one of several drivers penalized for pit lane speeding during the race in June, did not serve those penalties during the event. However, he was subsequently demoted by 10 seconds to seventh place due to the sanctions.

Alpine’s appeal to have Gasly’s penalties dismissed was initially successful, marking the team’s first Formula 1 podium since 2024. The ICA’s decision, made public on Friday, maintains that Gasly should be judged separately from other drivers who served penalties. As a result, McLaren’s Oscar Piastri rises to fourth place, while Racing Bulls’ Liam Lawson and Arvid Lindblad claim fifth and sixth positions, respectively. Gasly is now positioned seventh.
