Patricia Appiagyei accuses ‘faceless individuals’ of trying to sow division in NPP

Deputy Minority Leader Patricia Appiagyei has accused unnamed individuals of attempting to divide the New Patriotic Party (NPP) with a fabricated memo alleging she received and returned GH¢70,000. In a statement on September 4, 2026, Appiagyei denied authorizing or circulating the document, which purportedly linked her to a payment for vetting ministerial and Supreme Court nominees.

She insisted she did not receive any such money and had no reason to return it. Appiagyei claimed she was attending a friend's funeral when she first learned of the fake memo, which gained media attention. She has since sought legal counsel and warned she will take action against those responsible for creating or spreading the false information.

Appiagyei warned that the incident is the work of "faceless individuals" attempting to create discord within the NPP, and urged the party's members to remain united. She also called on NPP supporters and Ghanaians to support party leader Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia ahead of the 2028 general election.
