PAS eyeing 4 seats in next Sarawak polls

Sarawak PAS is targeting four constituencies for the upcoming state election, marking their first attempt since the party's establishment 30 years ago. Rashidi Halun, a delegate from the Sarawak PAS chapter, revealed that the party has devised distinct objectives and plans for the constituencies they intend to contest.

PAS aims to win its first seat in the state legislature, a milestone they believe will be a reward after a three-decade-long effort to strengthen their political presence. The party previously contested the Sarawak elections in 2011, 2016, and 2021 but without success.

Arifiriazul Paijo, the Sarawak PAS chief, had previously stated that the party intended to contest at least eight seats based on their previous performance. Sarawak, with 82 seats, will see an addition of 17 more seats before the next election. The state assembly's term ends in February, and an election must be held within 60 days of dissolution, by April at the latest.
