Packers running back Josh Jacobs’ initial court appearance gets moved up to Thursday

Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs' initial court appearance, related to two misdemeanor charges from a May altercation with his girlfriend, has been rescheduled. The hearing, originally set for November 17, now occurs on Thursday, preceding the team's season opener against Minnesota. Jacobs was charged with battery and criminal damage to property by Brown County (Wisconsin) District Attorney David Lasee.

The NFL has placed Jacobs on the commissioner's exempt list, barring him from playing or practicing but permitting him to receive his salary. Jacobs and his legal team, comprising David Z. Chesnoff, Richard A. Schonfeld, and Clarence F. Duchac III, maintain that the move to the exempt list is not a final decision. Jacobs, a three-time Pro Bowl runner-back, was arrested on May 26 following an investigation into a disturbance at his home.

The woman claimed she sustained a head injury from being thrown to the ground during their struggle. Jacobs, a key player for the Packers, rushed for 929 yards and 13 touchdowns in 2025. The team has secured a third-round pick, Kaleb Johnson, to bolster their running back lineup.
