Only 33 Teachers Across Madhya Pradesh Selected Against Promised 110 For State-Level Teacher Awards 2026

In Madhya Pradesh, only 33 teachers have been chosen for the State-Level Teacher Award 2026, falling short of the initial promise to recognize 110 educators. The selection, released on Thursday, is set to be honored at a Teachers Day ceremony on September 5 at the RCVP Noronha Academy of Administration. The announcement stated that 55 teachers from Classes 1-8 and 55 educators from Classes 9-12 would receive the accolade.

However, the final list comprises just 35 names, sparking discontent among teaching staff. The eligibility requirements stipulated that applicants needed to maintain 90% online attendance and achieve 100% results, with a minimum 80% score from students. Damodar Jain of Aatminrbhar Shikshak Samood explained that these conditions limited the number of eligible educators, as only 15-16 districts could participate in the selection process.

Furthermore, teachers pointed out that the State Education Department imposed such criteria, which are not applicable to the National Teachers Award. The selection process took place through the Vimarsh portal, beginning with recommendations from district selection committees, followed by assessments by the state-level committee.
