Ondo: Farmer Found Dead on Cocoa Plantation

In Ondo State, Ondo, a 52-year-old farmer named Ajibade Kehinde was discovered deceased on his cocoa plantation located at Alani Camp, close to Supare in Akoko South-West Local Government Area. Kehinde was reported to have departed from his home towards the farm on Thursday, September 3, 2026, but did not return, causing concern among his family members and locals who subsequently initiated a search for him.

His lifeless body was eventually found along a road leading to the farm, leaving the community and his relatives in a state of mourning. Local reports indicated that Kehinde might have been targeted by criminals who were allegedly active in the area.

However, some of his harvested crops were found at the scene, leading to speculation regarding the motive behind the attack and whether any items were taken. Upon learning about the incident, police officers under the leadership of the Divisional Police Officer arrived at the spot and removed the body to Iwaro General Hospital, where a medical doctor confirmed his death.

The corpse was then kept at the hospital's mortuary for preservation and autopsy, while detectives commenced an investigation into the circumstances that led to Kehinde's demise.

The Ondo State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, confirmed the incident and announced that the police force would conduct a comprehensive investigation into the case. He also put forth the assurance that the police would explore all available leads to uncover what actually transpired and bring any individuals associated with Kehinde's death to justice.
