Okpebholo swears in Edo LG chairmen, urges grassroots development

Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo inaugurated 18 new Local Government Area chairpersons on Friday, instructing them to prioritize measurable development and direct benefit to residents. The governor emphasized the importance of rejecting corruption, maintaining integrity, and making people's welfare the focus of their administrations.

He likened public office to a "sacred trust" and urged the officials to effectively utilize the autonomy granted to local governments. Okpebholo expressed confidence that their tenure would bring about more development, peace, and prosperity throughout the state. He stated, "Go and work for the people, complement the development efforts of the State Government and ensure that the impact of government is felt in every community. Your legacies will be defined by the lives you touch, the problems you solve."

Speaking on behalf of the newly sworn-in chairpersons, Gabriel Iduseri, Chairman of Oredo Local Government Area, pledged that the new council administrations would uphold transparent, purposeful, and people-focused leadership. Iduseri affirmed the chairpersons' readiness to align their programs with the governor's SHINE AGENDA and the Federal Government's Renewed Hope Agenda.

They expressed their commitment to bringing development to their respective local governments. Okpebholo concluded by urging the officials to serve with humility, lead with integrity, and work with passion.
