NPA welcomes court’s decision to deny ‘Gagash’ Nonyane and wife bail

The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) in Limpopo has welcomed a recent court decision to deny bail to two accused fraudsters, Tshwane Metro Police Department officer Peter "Gagash" Nonyane and his wife, estate attorney Charlotte Tibana. Magistrate Godfrey Netshiozwi ruled that they would not be granted bail, citing concerns that they may interfere with ongoing investigations, as evidenced by their actions while in custody.

The couple faces 43 charges, including fraud, theft, and money laundering, for allegedly defrauding deceased estates of approximately R6 million. They have been held in custody since November 6th. According to NPA spokesperson Mashudu Malabi, Nonyane's wife, as the executor, attempted to disrupt the investigation and even tried to arrange a meeting with the police commander and his team, despite being aware of her own involvement in the case.
