Niger APC Sues for Peaceful Campaigns

Ahead of the governorship campaign, the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Niger state has instructed its members to conduct peaceful electioneering, according to a statement released in Minna. The State Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Musa Sarkinkaji, emphasized that campaigns should be issue-based and avoid mudslinging and character assassination.

He stressed that as a current government, the APC should refrain from angering the opposition and focus on convincing voters to support them in the upcoming general election. Sarkinkaji highlighted the party's commendable performance across all levels and warned against distractions from the established goals. He cautioned party supporters against criticizing their candidates, noting that such actions could be counterproductive.

The spokesman also expressed concern over the rise of social-media attacks, provocative publications, and personal insults against party candidates, stating that these activities are unauthorized and reflect poorly on the party. He urged all members to remain disciplined, loyal, and responsible in their public and social-media engagements.

Any individual found sponsoring or actively participating in activities that could cause internal conflict or tarnish the party's image would face disciplinary action as per the APC constitution and party regulations. Sarkinkaji confirmed that Alhaji Mohammed Sani Kutigi is the party's candidate for the Niger South Senatorial district.
