NACOC arrests suspected drug dealer, wife at Weija

The Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) and the National Security’s Special Operations Department have apprehended two individuals in Weija, Ga South Municipality of the Greater Accra Region, in a coordinated intelligence-led operation on Thursday, September 3, 2026. This operation was the result of weeks of surveillance and undercover work.

The primary suspect, 51-year-old Jibreel Hardi, was apprehended around 11:00 a.m. as he was en route to meet a potential buyer. During a search of his vehicle, authorities discovered bags of dried leaves, believed to be cannabis, along with multiple packets of Tramadol. Following Hardi, the joint security force raided his home, where they found further quantities of suspected cannabis and Tramadol, as well as a firearm and 50 rounds of 9mm ammunition.

Additionally, 42-year-old Jibreel Hardi's wife, Abiba Fatawu, was apprehended at the residence and charged with involvement as an accomplice and collaborator. Both suspects have been transferred to the NACOC Headquarters for further processing as the investigation unfolds. The seized items will undergo forensic examination to uncover the details of the case.
