Mr Lenny to debut new album over the weekend

Lenny, a prominent figure in East African urban music from the 2000s, is set to release his debut album titled Hisia Zangu through Sapat Music. The album launch will occur on Saturday, September 5, at Bla Bla Nairobi, Fortis Tower, Woodvale Grove, Westlands. Comprising twelve tracks, Hisia Zangu is a deeply personal album that reflects Lenny's experiences as an artist and a man who came of age during a music revolution in his region.

The album merges his melodic style with contemporary Afro-pop production and live instrumentation, delivering lyrical content that resonates with modern life and love in Kenya. Lenny's return to the music scene is anticipated by a generation that grew up singing his hits off compilation CDs and late-night radio broadcasts. In his words, "This album is my most honest work.

Every song on it comes from something I actually lived, actually felt. Hisia Zangu means my feelings, and that is exactly what this is. I want people to hear themselves in it." Lenny gained prominence in the late 1990s and is credited with exporting Kenya's urban music to the wider East African region. Hisia Zangu marks a progression for Lenny, as he builds upon his earlier work by incorporating current East African sound elements while maintaining his signature melodic instincts.

The lyrics of Hisia Zangu are a mix of Swahili and English, reflecting the everyday speech of Nairobi residents, and touch upon themes of romantic longing, personal growth, and the passage of time. The album night will include a live performance by Lenny, where he will present select tracks from Hisia Zangu for the first time. Doors open at 7:00 PM.
