Morgan’s Miracles pays school fees for children with special needs at House of Mercy

Morgan’s Miracles, a non-profit organization based in the United States, has committed to covering the school fees for children at the House of Mercy Children’s Home for the 2026/27 academic year. The charity also presented provisions such as food, hygiene items, backpacks, and other educational supplies to the home on Friday, 4th September 2026.

The House of Mercy Children’s Home provides shelter, medical care, and educational support for 18 children, including those with cerebral palsy, hydrocephalus, visual impairment, and other physical and developmental conditions. Sheryl Hill, the executive director of Morgan’s Miracles, revealed that the donation was part of her 63rd birthday celebration.

She stated, "When you reach a certain age, you begin to think about your legacy. What do you want your legacy to look like?" She described the children as "God's VIPs," which she believed deserved a better way to celebrate her birthday than spending the day with them. The organization presented the children with food, hygiene bags, school supplies, and book bags, including all the necessary school supplies for the year.

Morgan Hill, the founder and CEO of Morgan’s Miracles, explained that the organization has been engaged in charitable activities since its establishment in 2017. Their work includes medical outreach programs, back-to-school initiatives, food assistance, and donations to children's homes and other people in need. Hill recounted how the idea for Morgan's Miracles originated during her childhood when she was asked what she wanted to do when she grew up.

She said, "I said I wanted to continue to help those in need. That is how Morgan's Miracles got started." The organization has collaborated with churches and ministries in Ghana since 2017, consulting local leaders to identify needs and determine appropriate assistance.

The director of the House of Mercy Children’s Home, Rev William Tetteh Deku, explained that the facility is registered under the name West African Mercy Ministries with the Department of Social Welfare. Rev Deku highlighted that the home takes care of abandoned children and provides shelter, medical support, and educational assistance.

He emphasized that medical expenses are among the biggest challenges faced by the home, as some children require specialist treatments and surgeries. In recent years, the home has spent approximately $18,000 on surgeries for children with various conditions. The facility also offers round-the-clock nursing care to ensure immediate attention during emergencies, and children are transported to hospitals using a school bus, which is often unavailable, leading to the need for taxis or other vehicles.

Rev Deku disclosed that the home relies entirely on donations from companies, churches, and individuals. Although they have applied for government support, they have yet to receive a response. The local traditional authority, Nii Marley Djahaa I of Teiman, expressed surprise at the existence of the children’s home in the area but praised Morgan’s Miracles for their generous donation.

He pledged that the traditional authority would support the facility as well. The donation will provide immediate assistance to the home, particularly with school expenses and essential supplies; however, the longer-term medical and operational needs of the children continue to depend on external support.
