Monaco rally to edge winless PSG as Lyon beat Auxerre in Ligue 1

Paris Saint-Germain suffered a rare winless start to the season, falling 2-1 to AS Monaco in Ligue 1 on Friday. The champions extended coach Luis Enrique's contract after the defeat. Marquinhos put PSG ahead in the first half, but Nazinho and Stanis Idumbo scored for Monaco to secure the win. Monaco has a perfect record of nine points and is the only team left with a 100% record in Ligue 1.

PSG announced before the match that coach Luis Enrique had extended his deal until 2030, and that several players had signed new contracts. However, their night turned sour with the loss. PSG defender Lucas Hernandez stated, "It's rare (the winless start to the season), but it's also part of football." He added that there were many new attacking players to integrate into the team's system.

Monaco took the lead after 31 minutes when Marquinhos headed in a cross by Khvicha Kvaratskhelia. Monaco leveled after 58 minutes with a goal from Nazinho, who had previously scored in a 2-2 draw with Lille. The decisive goal came after 72 minutes as Stanis Idumbo netted a powerful shot from a tight angle. Olympique Lyonnais dominated Auxerre 3-1, with Ernest Nuamah scoring two goals and providing an assist.
