MB Perlis nafi layan Adun PAS seperti pembangkang

Menteri Besar Perlis, Abu Bakar Hamzah, has denied allegations that PAS lawmaker in the state is treated like a dissident, describing the claim as baseless. He stated that the state government always moves forward with the spirit of Perikatan Nasional (PN) and that all major decisions are taken together in the State Council Meeting, according to Utusan Malaysia.

Abu Bakar also has good relations with the leadership of PAS Perlis and emphasized that the issue only involves a group supporting former Chief Minister Shukri Ramli. "Prove that the accusation was made by the Pemuda PAS Perlis representative, who also accompanied Shukri," he said during a press briefing in Kangar. Abu Bakar further explained that the sacking or exchange of several political deputies in the past, such as a parliamentary committee member, was done to improve the capacity and integrity of the party.

Yesterday, Pemuda PAS Perlis representative Ali Na’imi Ahmad Aziz urged the party and PN leadership to consider taking strong action against Abu Bakar, alleging that his actions are tarnishing the image of PN and PAS in the state. He also accused Abu Bakar of treating him like a representative of disgruntled constituents, in addition to dismissing and terminating several political deputies from PAS.

Abu Bakar was appointed as Perlis' ninth Chief Minister in December, replacing Shukri Ramli of PAS who stepped down due to health reasons. His appointment came amid a political crisis in Perlis, which saw eight PN lawmakers, including five from Bersatu, reportedly withdrawing their support for Shukri. The Perlis political crisis ultimately led to PAS deciding to sever ties with Bersatu, although both parties remained within PN.
