Lahore Traffic Police Ordered to Meet Challan Target

The City Traffic Officer in Lahore has instructed traffic police to expedite the issuing of fines, according to an official letter. This directive comes after a recent decline in penalties issued for violations such as driving without a license, underage driving, fitness certificate irregularities, and smoke-emitting vehicles. The City Traffic Officer (CTO) Lahore stated that wardens have been given a 15-day window to improve performance; failure to meet the target will result in departmental consequences.

The order has garnered attention due to public worry over traffic enforcement in the city. Tragically, a young man passed away in Shadman two days ago after attempting to evade a traffic fine. A traffic warden attempted to stop a speeding motorcycle in the middle of the road; the rider collided with the pavement and later succumbed to injuries in the hospital. The warden, reportedly under treatment, was also involved in the incident.
