La Liga club preparing new contract for Barcelona target after rising interest – report

Racing Santander is preparing to bolster their hold on potential transfer target Jorge Salinas by preparing a revised contract, amid increasing interest from other major clubs, reports SPORT. The 19-year-old left-back has caught the attention of Barcelona and Atletico Madrid, with the latter offering a release clause of up to €14 million, while Barcelona proposed €5 million.

Salinas, who is currently contracted until 2029, remains at Racing, tied to the club until 2029, but the club is reassessing his contract following the considerable interest. Racing refuses to lower their asking price, maintaining the current €16 million release clause, but acknowledge the figure could be increasingly challenging to defend if the young player continues his impressive form.

The club aims to reward Salinas with improved financial terms, including a higher release clause, to protect their investment and acknowledge his growing importance to the team.
