Karua fires warning at Ruto: ‘Days of ruling through fear are numbered’

Martha Karua, leader of the PLP Party, has intensified her criticism of President William Ruto's administration, accusing the Kenya Kwanza government of perpetuating rights violations and warning that their time in power is limited. Karua expressed her discontent with the administration, stating that Kenyans have had enough of what she described as abductions, intimidation, extrajudicial killings, and impunity.

She emphasized that the Kenya Kwanza government must respect the rule of law and protect citizens. Karua's comments came as she addressed national security concerns, pointing to recent reports of abductions, including a senior editor from The Standard. She alleged that the police are aware of these abductions, but are unwilling to act.

Karua also accused security agencies of involvement in extrajudicial killings. She called for a government that upholds constitutional rights and safeguards the lives and property of citizens. Karua's remarks were made amid increasing public concern over alleged rights violations, particularly targeting government critics and journalists.

She said the issues were discussed among opposition leaders, with recent cases of rights violations providing examples of the country's challenges. Karua linked these concerns to the 2027 General Election, asserting that Kenyans will ultimately decide the country's political future through the ballot. She warned that the people will not accept a government that targets those who speak out.

"Power belongs to the people, and in 2027, Kenyans will have the opportunity to use that power to reclaim their country and restore sanity!" she stated, warning the Kenya Kwanza administration that their days of rule are numbered.
