Juventus switch 'could play to Woltemade's strengths'

Football journalist Julien Laurens believes that playing in Serie A could be a good fit for Newcastle forward Nick Woltemade, with his characteristics being well-suited to the Italian league. The Germany international joined the Magpies last summer but has struggled to break into the Premier League. In the 2022-23 season, Woltemade played 53 matches for Newcastle, scoring 11 goals.

Juventus will pay a £3.5 million loan fee for Woltemade, but they do not have the option to buy the 24-year-old. It remains to be seen what Luciano Spalletti will do with him, given his successful track record with strikers when they fit into his team profile.

Laurens noted that Woltemade's time at Newcastle was never going to work due to Matthias Jaissle's playing style. He believes that Woltemade's 10-15 minutes off the bench are not good enough for Jaissle, who looks for a stronger presence from his strikers. The journalist added that moving to Serie A could provide a fresh start for Woltemade, as the league is less intense and physical compared to the Premier League, allowing him to play to his strengths.
