Judge President vows to fast-track Phala Phala report review ruling

Western Cape Judge President Nolwazi Mabindla-Boqwana has pledged to expedite the judgment on the review of the Section 89 Independent Panel report, recognizing the importance of the matter at hand. The court has postponed its decision on President Cyril Ramaphosa's request to nullify the report. Ramaphosa's counsel, Advocate Wim Trengove, refuted the arguments presented.

"Our objective is not to alter those rules," Trengove emphasized. "Our role is to ensure the legality, to hold the National Assembly accountable to those rules, and specifically, the independent panel of experts to those rules. We do not aim to challenge the rules established by the National Assembly. We simply wish to ensure their compliance."

During the proceedings, which spanned three days, attorneys representing Ramaphosa and the opposing parties debated the merits of reviewing the report.
