Judge criticises Mir Raza’s business partner for concealing facts

On Thursday, a judicial commission investigating the circumstances surrounding the Mir Raza Ali murder case criticized the victim's business partner for attempting to mislead the commission and concealing key facts about the case. Headed by Justice Omar Sial of the Sindh High Court, the one-person commission grilled Muhammad Ahmed Bhardey for over two hours, expressing resentment over his reluctance to provide satisfactory answers.

The victim's childhood friend asserted that Wafflix, their eatery, was thriving, but the aggrieved family faced financial difficulties due to losses sustained by the victim's father and Raza's concerns over creditor harassment as his parents had sold various assets. The commission also recorded testimonies from Bhardey's brother and a police officer.

Initially, Bhardey claimed he and the victim shared an equal partnership, but later admitted that Ahsan Anis Shamsi also held a 30% stake in the eatery. The commission expressed serious dissatisfaction with Bhardey's evasiveness and the interference of his counsel in proceedings. When asked why he sought pre-arrest bail, he blamed the victim's family for accusing him and the police for detaining him for 36 hours.
