Jason Gillespie slams Aaqib Javed over Pakistan’s selection chaos

Former Pakistan cricket coach Jason Gillespie has criticized chairman of selectors Aaqib Javed for the national team's selection chaos following recent Test match embarrassments. Gillespie, who led Pakistan for eight months in 2024, including a 2-1 series win against England, expressed his sympathy for the players who are now playing in fear.

The Australian coach believes the team lacks a clear selection strategy, especially under Javed's leadership. He accused Javed of having no selection strategy and frequently changing his mind, even daily. Javed himself recently blamed former white-ball coach Gary Kirsten and Gillespie for the current situation, despite having been the chairman of selectors for only two years.

Gillespie also questioned the lack of communication between Javed and the players, stating that the players heard about their sacking through family and friends, not directly from Javed. Several other former Pakistan coaches and players have echoed similar concerns, calling the situation "ridiculous" and "absolutely ridiculous."
