Israeli strike kills two in southern Lebanon amid ongoing escalation

Lebanon experienced Israeli airstrikes on Friday night, resulting in at least three fatalities and 23 injuries, according to the Lebanese Health Ministry. The airstrikes targeted five locations in southern Tyr, Nabatieh, and Bekaa regions. This occurred despite a truce between Israel and Iran-backed Hezbollah fighters. The strikes also came after Israel claimed to have captured the strategic Ali al-Taher ridge, though Hezbollah denied losing it.

Two civilians were killed while riding a motorcycle in Nabatieh, with their bodies transported to a hospital. Israel announced control of the ridge on Thursday, stating they would prevent the enemy from re-establishing themselves in the area. Additional strikes were made in the village of Rmadiyeh in Tyre, killing one person and injuring 15, including two children, three women, and six rescuers.

The third fatality took place in Rmadiyeh, with the strike targeting a house sheltering displaced residents. The conflict has persisted since March when Hezbollah attacked Israel in support of Iran, leading to over 4,300 casualties. Recent peace efforts, including a US-Iran memorandum and a framework agreement between Israel and Lebanon, have not fully halted Israeli strikes, which continue to disrupt daily life in Lebanon.
