iPhone Ultra Foldable Smartphone May Be Priced In India At Around ₹2 Lakh, Up To 2TB Storage Expected

Apple's rumored foldable iPhone, often referred to as the iPhone Ultra or iPhone Fold, is expected to be the most expensive iPhone yet, with a starting price above $2,000. According to market research firm TrendForce, the device is slated to debut alongside the iPhone 18 Pro series at Apple's Surprise and Shine event on September 9.

The base variant of Apple's foldable is projected to begin at around Rs. 1.98 lakh in India, while a higher configuration could cost approximately Rs. 2.17 lakh. A top-end model with maximum storage may even surpass the $3,000 mark globally. However, once import duties and GST are taken into account, the actual retail price in India is likely to exceed these estimates.

Based on Apple's historical pricing strategy in the country, the foldable iPhone could realistically be priced between Rs. 2.3-2.5 lakh for the base variant, though this remains speculative until Apple officially announces the device. TrendForce's report suggests the foldable will boast a 5.5-inch OLED display on the exterior and a larger 7.8-inch OLED screen on the inside, with the latter supporting a 120Hz ProMotion refresh rate.

Powered by Apple's next-generation A20 Pro chipset, built on TSMC's 2nm process, the device is expected to deliver enhanced performance and power efficiency, particularly for Apple Intelligence and other on-device AI tasks. The foldable is rumored to carry a dual 48-megapixel rear camera setup and a 24-megapixel front camera. Interestingly, TrendForce claims the device might rely on Touch ID instead of Face ID, though this detail remains unconfirmed.

As of now, Apple has not officially confirmed the existence, name, specifications, or pricing of the foldable iPhone.
