iCaur gives first peek of incoming range-extending EV V27 and 03T

Electric-only manufacturer iCaur unveiled two new range-extending electric vehicles (REEV) models, the V27 and 03T REEV, at the Kyalami Festival of Motoring. The V27, positioned as the top model in iCaur's current lineup, replacing the V23 and 03T, is expected to hit dealerships by the end of the year rather than 2027. Styled as a tribute to the Defender 110, Toyota Land Cruiser 70-series and Isuzu Trooper, the V27 is a five-seat vehicle with dual-motor all-wheel drive, though a single-motor two-wheel drive version exists in China.

The V27 operates on a 34.3-kWh battery pack, powering two electric motors, while a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine from iCaur's parent company, Chery, serves as a generator for the electric systems. This setup delivers 339kW/505Nm, enabling a 150 km electric-only range, 0-100 km/h in five seconds, and a total range of 1,000 km. The V27's standard features include heated and ventilated front seats, a 15.4-inch infotainment system, dual-pane panoramic sunroof, temperature-controlled front armrest, 15-speaker sound system, ambient lighting, and a fragrance dispenser. Pricing and a final launch date remain undisclosed.

The 03T REEV, shown in Thailand under the Jaecoo J6T name, will be positioned above the all-electric 03T AWD and the V27 upon release. This South African variant, confirmed to feature two-wheel drive, reportedly uses a 33.6-kWh battery pack and a single 188kW/300Nm electric motor. A 115kW/220Nm output from the 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine is reserved for charging the battery and is not connected to the drive wheels.

The 03T REEV's claimed electric-only range is 190 km, with a 0-100 km/h time of 7.9 seconds, and a total range of 900 km when the petrol engine is included. Pricing and specific details await an official reveal date.
