Heavy rain disrupts train services to Mizoram, repair work underway

Heavy rainfall has caused disruptions to train services to Mizoram following soil erosion affecting the railway track between Jamira in Assam and Bairabi in Mizoram. Railway authorities have initiated restoration work on the affected site, monitoring the situation closely. As per Kapinjal Kishore Sharma, Chief Public Relations Officer of the Northeast Frontier Railway, around 70 metres of track has been impacted, with effects extending up to 40 metres from the track's center.

Due to the location's inaccessibility, restoration efforts are expected to take time. Consequently, several trains have been cancelled, with replacements originating or terminating at Hailakandi.
