Heavy Rain Breaks Culvert In MP's Chhatarpur; Floods Jatashankar Temple With Knee-Deep Water — VIDEO

Heavy rainfall in Chhatarpur district, Madhya Pradesh has caused significant disruption to road connectivity and led to water flooding a temple premises. A culvert near Gadharpura village has collapsed, obstructing traffic on the Chandranagar-Badakheda Prime Minister Gram Sadak route and causing inconvenience for local residents. A viral video shows locals struggling to cross the path, stuck near the broken culvert.

The damaged culvert is situated near Gadharpura village under the jurisdiction of the Khajuraho police station. Villagers who frequently use the road are now experiencing difficulties in reaching nearby areas due to the disrupted route. Additionally, Jatashankar Dham, a renowned religious site in the district, has also been affected by the heavy rainfall.

A strong stream of water was observed emerging from the Gomukh at Jatashankar Dham after the intense rainfall. The temple premises are now completely submerged in water, with the water level extending up to a priest's knees. Continuous downpour further exacerbates the waterlogging situation, as water continues to flow into the temple area.

The rising water levels in and around the temple highlight the impact of the heavy rainfall on the region. Rivers, streams, and other water bodies in Chhatarpur district have seen an increase in water levels following the rainfall, posing potential risks to the local population. The challenging conditions have prompted some individuals in the community to charge ₹50 for helping commuters cross the overflowing Urmil River amidst the heavy rain.
