Hadi denies interfering in PN’s decisions

PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang firmly denied allegations that he has been interfering in Perikatan Nasional's decision-making process, stating that the coalition reaches decisions through consensus. Addressing a press conference at the 72nd PAS muktamar, Hadi emphasized that he merely expresses his views, rather than dictating the direction of the coalition.

He clarified that PAS fosters internal debate among its members, unlike other parties where members simply agree with everything. Hadi's influence over PN, now chaired by his former aide and PAS vice-president Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar, has sparked speculation, particularly following the disagreement between PAS and Bersatu. In June, Hadi's decision to keep Wawasan president Hamzah Zainudin as the opposition leader faced backlash from Bersatu leaders.

Hadi also confirmed that negotiations between PN and Barisan Nasional for the upcoming Melaka state election are underway, but stressed that these talks are still in progress and have not been finalized. When asked about PAS's potential prime ministerial candidate for their ummah unification agenda, Hadi stated that it is too early to make a decision, as the final determination will depend on the outcome of the next general election and the number of seats held by each party.
