Govt. urged to expedite works of Sujala Sravanthi project

BJP senior leader Koppula Velama Corporation Chairman Earle Sree Rama Murthy has called on the State government to expedite the completion of the Sujala Sravanthi project, which aims to provide a dedicated Godavari water source for Vizianagaram and Srikakulam districts. Murthy stated that completing the project by 2029 would greatly benefit farmers who have suffered due to climate change, including the El Niño effect this year.

In an interview with The Hindu, Murthy revealed that he had conducted a comprehensive study on the Polavaram project and its advantages for North Andhra region thirty years ago, and had submitted a detailed report to the government. He emphasized that if canals were prioritized, four lakh acres of land in Vizianagaram and Srikakulam districts would receive a guaranteed water supply.

Murthy further urged the State government to allocate additional funds for the Uttarandhra Sujjala Sravanthi project, as it is separate from the Polavaram project, which is funded by the Union government.
