Government To Give Viability Presentation Before Indore High Court On Elevated Corridor

Indore (Madhya Pradesh): In anticipation of an upcoming hearing, the State government has announced it is preparing a viability presentation regarding the proposed 6-km elevated corridor between LIG Square and Navlakha Square. This information was disclosed during a recent hearing before the Madhya Pradesh High Court's Indore bench.

The viability presentation is set to be submitted within a week, following the court's request for further material on the project's feasibility. The matter will ultimately be addressed on September 21, when Justice Subodh Abhyankar and Justice Alok Awasthi will preside over the final hearing in the case. The petition, filed by Atul Sheth through a Public Interest Litigation (PIL), questions the legality and necessity of the elevated corridor's construction.

The petitioner contends that the project, initially proposed in 2018-19, has been revived in 2024 without proper city-wide survey to determine its utility. Additionally, the petitioner argues that the elevated corridor does not align with the findings of the Indore Development Authority (IDA). In response to the hearing, additional Advocate General Rahul Sethi informed the court that the State's respondents are currently developing a videographic presentation comparing the merits and drawbacks of the elevated corridor versus over-bridges.
