Government cannot implement revenue-sharing system for film industry: APSFTVTDC chairman

On Friday, APSFTVTDC chairman P. Bharat Bhushan stated that the government lacks the capability to establish a revenue-sharing system based on a percentage of income between film producers and exhibitors. At the AP Exhibitors’ Committee meeting in Vijayawada, Bhushan mentioned that the government's current fiscal limitations also hindered its ability to provide financial support to either producers or exhibitors.

Previously, stakeholders in the film industry, including exhibitors, producers, theatre owners, and various representatives, approached Bhushan through a plea for the government to implement a unified system for B-Form licences. Their additional requests encompassed prolonging fire licence renewals to a five-year period, categorising cinema exhibition as an industry to allow theatres to receive electricity tariffs comparable to those of hotels, services, and tourism, and permitting higher maintenance charges for cinema halls.

They also advocated for maintaining standard admission rates without significant increases or surcharges for newly released films.
