Fender MIX headphones now have an iPhone app for tuning your sound

In August, Fender launched the MIX wireless headphones at a price of $299. These over-ear headphones come equipped with a replaceable battery and a USB-C wireless transmitter known as FWD Tx for low-latency, lossless connectivity. Now, the Fender MIX headphones also feature an iPhone app designed to fine-tune the audio experience.

This Fender Audio app for iPhone provides EQ presets, as well as a custom five-band equalizer, allowing users to adjust the sound from their iPhone. In addition, the app includes a battery indicator and configurable Home Screen widgets to provide quick access to device actions, such as EQ settings.

The MIX headphones boast 40mm graphene drivers, hybrid active noise cancellation, and Bluetooth 5.3. Fender claims battery life can last up to 52 hours with ANC enabled or 100 hours with ANC turned off. The headphones also include a USB-C transmitter that supports separate modes for lossless audio up to 24-bit/96kHz, low-latency listening, and Auracast broadcasting to multiple compatible devices. They also support wired listening via USB-C or a 3.5mm audio cable.

In personal listening tests, the MIX headphones delivered excellent sound quality with active noise cancellation enabled. However, when switched to Ambient Sound, the transparency mode seemed to significantly degrade audio quality, at least over Bluetooth without the adapter. The user is eager to test the app's EQ controls to potentially fine-tune the sound to better match personal preferences.

The USB-C transmitter can be stored neatly behind an ear cushion when not in use, and Bluetooth without the adapter becomes practical when convenience is more important than sound specifications. The Fender Audio app is currently available on the App Store for use with Fender MIX headphones.
