Female cop found dead in bushes as husband allegedly confesses to killing her in Kabete

A 46-year-old police woman, Sergeant Gladys Nyaguthe Kirika, was found dead in bushes at Kagira in Kabete, Nairobi County, Kenya. This occurred after a man reported to the police that he had killed his wife and buried her body in the area. Police responded to the scene and discovered a hammer and a Maasai sword, which they are treating as evidence of her brutal murder. The motive behind the killing remains unknown.

Upon arriving at the scene on Thursday, September 3, police officers from Kabete Police Station conducted a search in Kagira and discovered the woman's body. The victim had visible injuries to her head, believed to have been inflicted with a blunt object, such as the hammer found at the scene. Injuries on her left hand and rope marks on her legs suggest she may have been bound tightly with a rope.

Identification documents found on the body confirm that the deceased was Sergeant Kirika, a police officer aged 46 attached to Subuiga Police Station in Buuri West Sub-County, Meru County.

The body was taken to PCEA Kikuyu Funeral Home for further examination. The husband, who had reported the murder to the police, later attempted to take his own life by hanging himself in the house. He was rescued by local residents and police, and is currently in a stable condition in the hospital. Police have not established the motive behind the murder and attempted suicide, but suspect that domestic disputes may be the cause. Colleagues have described the late female cop as a hardworking and obedient officer.
