FBR Removes Senior Officer Over Corruption Charges

The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has dismissed Khurram Fakhar Siddique, a senior officer in the Inland Revenue Service, due to accusations of misconduct and corruption, according to FBR officials. The disciplinary proceedings concluded that all allegations against the officer were valid. As the chief authority, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif mandated the officer's removal from service immediately, in accordance with the Civil Servants (Efficiency and Discipline) Rules, 2020.

The affected individual is entitled to contest the decision within 30 days of receiving the notice. This move is part of the FBR's ongoing efforts to enhance internal accountability against corruption and misconduct. The tax agency has consistently stated that officials found guilty of corrupt practices will face disciplinary action, and it has also set up channels for taxpayers to report grievances against FBR employees.
