Exodus Romance Options Are Not Gender-Locked for Both Male and Female Leads

Exodus, the upcoming space opera RPG from Archetype Entertainment, will feature character relationships that players can develop through dialogue, interactions, and decisions. Narrative director and former BioWare lead Drew Karpyshyn revealed that romance options are not gender-locked, meaning players can choose to romance any character regardless of the gender of lead character Jun Aslan.

Karpyshyn explained that the player drives the romances, and there are no situations where a character will romance the player if they didn't take the initiative. The game aims to put players in situations where they can potentially romance more than one character, with the outcome depending on the character and the choices made by the player.

Karpyshyn emphasized that the choices made throughout a playthrough will affect how characters perceive the player, and that the romances are more focused on role-playing relationships rather than being tied directly to gameplay mechanics. The game will also include sex scenes, described as tasteful by game director Chris King. With queer romance being a major feature in recent popular games like Baldur's Gate 3 and Mass Effect, Exodus seems to be following suit. Exodus is set to launch on April 7, 2027 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
