Europaweite Ermittlungen: Wieder Angriff auf Stromnetz - Bekennerbrief gibt Hinweise

Following a new attempted sabotage attack on the energy supply in North Rhine-Westphalia, law enforcement agencies are pursuing leads from two confession letters. Police are searching across Europe for a man from Gevelsberg near Hagen who allegedly wrote the letters. The letters were received by several German media outlets and contain information about actions that were not publicly known at the time.

On Thursday evening, search teams found a suspicious launch device at a substation in Dormagen between Düsseldorf and Cologne. A passerby noticed the construction and alerted the police. The found devices resemble those used by unknown individuals to shoot cables over overhead lines and disable several power plant units in Bergheim.

Similar launch devices were also found in Jänschwalde, Brandenburg, and Bergheim, causing short circuits in the power grid.
