Enes Kanter Freedom sues Chicago Sky over ejection, ban from Wintrust Arena

Enes Kanter Freedom has initiated a lawsuit against the Chicago Sky, the Metropolitan Pier and Exposition Authority, and the City of Chicago following an altercation during a game. The lawsuit, filed in the U.S District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, seeks to challenge the team's ban on Freedom and asserts that his First Amendment rights were infringed upon.

Freedom is demanding a jury trial, the reversal of his ban from Wintrust Arena, the reimbursement of his legal fees, and nominal and compensatory damages. The Chicago Sky and WNBA have yet to respond to requests for comment. Freedom posted on social media that he was ejected while exercising his First Amendment rights and vowed not to be intimidated or silenced.

At a previous game on Aug. 23, Freedom confronted Chicago guard Natasha Cloud, leading to his ejection from the arena in the third quarter. The Sky have since banned Freedom indefinitely from their home games, though their owner may reconsider if Freedom demonstrates compliance with team rules. Cloud dismissed Freedom as "an irrelevant person" in her subsequent remarks, focusing on issues affecting women and children.
