Eight men charged with murder over fatal Taman Alam Megah brawl

Eight men, including two suspected secret society members, have been charged with the murder of a 23-year-old man during a brawl that took place in Taman Alam Megah, Shah Alam, on August 25, according to the Magistrate's Court on September 4. The accused, who are members of an unlawful assembly with a shared intention, are Ganeshi Ahimsha, S.R.

Harikrisnan, M.K. Puwaneswaran, A. Rhubban, K. Thivagar, Shaik Hasanudin Ahlauwudin, Sheikh Mauludin Ahlauwudin, and R. Darvin Raj. The prosecution alleges that they murdered Ganesan at Jalan Mandolin, Taman Alam Megah, at 1.59pm on that day. They face charges under Section 149 of the Penal Code and could face the death penalty or up to 40 years in prison if convicted of murder under Section 302 of the same code.

The prosecution, headed by Deputy Public Prosecutor Nur Alya Zaphfirah Al Zaphni, was supported by lawyers Navin Punj and Nur Aida Md Zainuddin for three of the accused, while the remaining accused were unrepresented. The court denied bail and set a date of October 13 for the next court appearance.
