Eagles announce 7 captains for the 2026 season

The Philadelphia Eagles have announced seven captains for the upcoming 2026 season. Coach Nick Sirianni typically allows players to vote on their own captains rather than assigning them by the coaching staff. The new captains are: Quarterback Jalen Hurts, Running Back Saquon Barkley, Wide Receiver DeVonta Smith, Offensive Tackle Lane Johnson, Offensive Tackle Jordan Mailata, Linebacker Zack Baun, and Defensive Tackle Jordan Davis.

Last year, the team had eight captains, but this season there are seven. The roster remains largely the same, with the exception of A.J. Brown, Reed Blankenship, and Jake Elliott, who are no longer captains. Lane Johnson, who has been a captain for the past four seasons, will join Hurts and Barkley as players with four stars under their 'C' patches.

DeVonta Smith and Jordan Davis, who were not captains last year, will each wear two stars. This is an interesting development, as it's unusual for a player to lose their captaincy after previously being a multi-year captain with the team. DeVonta Smith returns as a captain for the first time since the 2023 season.
