Bekennerschreiben: Polizei überprüft weiteres Umspannwerk nach Sabotagehinweis

Dormagen police are investigating a second power station in Weisweiler, near Aachen, following a reported sabotage attempt. A police spokesperson confirmed the involvement of a "confession letter" mentioning additional incidents there. Investigators are examining whether "suspicious shooting devices" are present in Weisweiler. The confession letter, which is currently in the possession of the investigators, lists several crimes in North Rhine-Westphalia and Brandenburg.

The alleged perpetrator is believed to be a man from Gevelsberg in the Ennepe-Ruhr-Kreis. Police are actively seeking him, but it remains to be seen whether he is the actual culprit or merely a "riding on someone else's coat-tails." Several media outlets have reported that the motives behind the crimes are the fight against fossil energy sources, but the police have not commented on this.

The discovery of possible shooting devices at a Dormagen power station by a passerby on Thursday evening prompted the police to be alerted. These devices resemble those used by unknown individuals who recently shot cables over power lines in Bergheim, west of Cologne, causing multiple power plant units to be disabled. The police are treating this case as a sabotage offense, but no damage has been reported to the power station.
