Bandits threaten to takeover Sokoto community, demand N40m levy

Bandits attacked the Girkau community in Kebbe Local Government Area of Sokoto State, resulting in the deaths of five residents and injuries to four others, according to a report on X. The attackers were present in the area for an extended period, leaving no safe place for residents to seek refuge. A large number of cattle were also taken during the raid, reported Bakatsine.

The prolonged presence of the bandits has sparked concerns about the security situation in Kebbe LGA, prompting calls for immediate assistance from security agencies. This incident occurred just days after bandits had imposed a N40 million levy on residents of Kebbe town. The recent events have heightened concerns over the escalating pressure being exerted on communities across Kebbe LGA by armed groups.
