Ayariga calls for stronger church partnership to tackle sanitation, environmental challenges

Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Mahama Ayariga, has urged for enhanced collaboration between the government, the Church, and other stakeholders to address issues of sanitation and environmental concerns in Ghana. Speaking via a Facebook post, Mr Ayariga made his remarks after participating in the opening ceremony of the Second Ecumenical Convention, organized by the Christian Council of Ghana and other Christian leaders at the Baptist International Worship Centre.

The convention, with the theme "Focusing on Transform through Creation Care," offered a crucial forum to consider the Church’s role in fostering peace, responsible citizenship, environmental conservation, and sustainable national progress.

Mr Ayariga highlighted the Church's substantial contributions to Ghana's education, healthcare, and overall social advancement, emphasizing the critical need to strengthen the partnership between the government and faith-based organizations. He underscored that ensuring a cleaner and healthier Ghana necessitates a shared effort.

He stated, "Together, united in Christ and committed to caring for creation, we can transform our society," reaffirming his dedication to working with faith-based organizations, traditional leaders, the private sector, civil society, and other relevant stakeholders to foster genuine national development.
